Period Predictor Apps: Are You Actually Tracking?
Many women believe they track their cycles by using a period predictor app. However, these apps rely on algorithms to estimate your period’s start date and do not track the most important part of your cycle: ovulation.
True cycle charting tracks ovulation, not just bleeding.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recognizes ovulation as a fifth vital sign of health, yet only an estimated 30-40% of women know their most fertile days and understand how their cycle affects conception.
Harnessing the power of ovulation — what you need to know
Ovulation is a sign of healthy hormones working together to release one egg per cycle, offering the possibility of fertilization.
Key Facts About Ovulation:
Not all women ovulate on Day 14. Ovulation timing varies based on hormonal coordination between the brain and ovaries.
Ovulation occurs once per cycle. The egg survives for 12-24 hours unless fertilized.
Sperm can survive up to 5 days in the presence of estrogenic cervical mucus.
Egg health is critical for conception. It takes 3-4 months to develop a healthy egg, influenced by mitochondrial function.
Tracking biomarkers like basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and LH levels can help determine your fertile window.
Ovulation disorders are the #1 cause of female infertility. Recognizing ovulation signs can help address underlying causes.
Tools for Confirming Ovulation
Using a monitor like Mira provides real-time daily insights into hormone levels, helping confirm whether ovulation has occurred. As part of my FEMM cycle charting instruction, RoseFem clients receive a 20% discount on Mira monitors.
When is No Ovulation Expected?
There are natural times in a woman’s reproductive life when ovulation does not occur:
Early puberty
Pregnancy & postpartum (Return to ovulation after childbirth varies and depends on breastfeeding frequency.)
Perimenopause (Cycles become anovulatory as hormones shift typically in the mid-40s.)
Health Benefits of Ovulation
Ovulation is more than just a fertility marker—it influences brain, heart, immune, and bone health:
Bone Health
Estrogen and progesterone work together to support bone mineral density.
Lack of ovulation, whether due to dysfunction or hormonal contraception, can reduce bone density, with effects manifesting later in life, particularly post-menopause.
Brain Health
Estrogen enhances brain plasticity and improves cognitive function.
Progesterone helps regulate glial cells and stabilizes mood.
Heart Health
Resting heart rate is lower in the follicular phase and higher after ovulation.
Estrogen prevents coronary artery calcification while progesterone lowers blood pressure.
Immune Health
Estrogen boosts immune function in the first half of the cycle.
Progesterone leads to a temporary immune suppression in the luteal phase, helping with implantation if conception occurs.

From a Former Coaching Client:
"Coaching with Leanne played a big part in my finding peace and healing during one of the most challenging years of my life. She walked with me through a turbulent postpartum period and after my first miscarriage. I felt sick and disconnected from my body. Leanne helped me find hope, understand my femininity, and take tangible steps toward healing. At the end of our coaching, I felt better, had more confidence, and knew how to advocate for my health."
